Town description
The municipality of Neuschönau is located directly by the beautiful Bavarian Forest National Park. The municipality consists of the town of Neuschönau itself as well as the surrounding districts of Katzberg, Grünbach, Schönanger, Forstwald, Altschönau and the mountain village of Waldhäuser.
Neuschönau is at an altitude of 748 metres above sea level, while the mountain village of Waldhäuser is located at 1,000 metres above sea level – at the foot of Lusen Mountain (the second-highest peak in the Bavarian Forest National Park).
